Black on Black

Cardigan: Suzy Shier | Blouse: Thrifted | Trousers: Thrifted | Heels: Steve Madden | Earrings: Icing

Here's a quick look from last week. I'd felt like experimenting a bit, so I put together an outfit that was slightly different from anything I'd recently worn. I paired a thrifted lacy blouse with an old pair of thrifted dotted trousers and my favourite black heels. I popped on a little black cardigan, in lieu of a black blazer. I've actually been searching for a nice black blazer for ages and hadn't yet found the right one, but recently I was in Suzy Shier and came across a perfect one similar to my red one --  and I'm sure I'll definitely be working it into an outfit sometime in the near future!

Spring Flowers III

It seems like I never know the proper names for flowers, but I've always called these 'peacocks', I'm really not sure why as they don't look like the flowers of the same name when I googled 'peacock flowers'. They're some of my favourites, regardless, because they're so delicate and pretty.

And I'm not certain of what type of daffodil this is, but it was all by itself and the only one I saw like it. I just think it's so unique looking and pretty!

This is one of my favourite types of daffodil, I love the two-toned ones! I like the ones with white petals and a bright orange centre, even more.

And finally, some forget-me-nots. These little babes grow like wildfire in our garden. So cute.

Monochrome Flowers

Shirt: Thrift Shop | Trousers: Sirens | Heels: Steve Madden

Ever since I got into thrift shopping years ago, some of my favourite clothes have come from thrift and second hand shops. This shirt is one of my favourite finds, not entirely recent as I've had it for about a year, but still one of my favourites. I think it goes nicely with a lot of things and is quite loose and comfortable without feeling frumpy. In this outfit, I paired it with two of my current go-to items, my Sirens trousers and Steve Madden heels, both of which you've probably seen plenty of times if you've visited my blog in the past!

You play the vamp, I play the killer

Top: Sirens | Skirt: Vivilli* | Tights: Silks | Heels: Suzy Shier

I've always felt like burgundy is an autumn/winter colour, but I wanted to wear this skirt one day last week and decided to see if I could make a spring appropriate look with it. Black is my go-to colour, but I knew pairing something black would make it look only more wintry. As I was looking through my drawers I noticed a little crop top I recently bought from Sirens, which incidentally had a small amount of burgundy in its floral print. I'd never really thought seafoam green would go nicely with a burgundy, but I guess we do learn something new every day!

P.S. The title of this post is from the Stones' 1974 song If You Really Want to Be My Friend, which I am obsessed with it at the moment. You know when you've had an album for ages and then suddenly discover a song you had previously sort of ignored and realise how much you like it?

Exactly that.

Don't look back into the sun

Top: Skip N' Whistle* | Jeans: Thrifted | Heels: Steve Madden | Lipstick: Smitten Red/Avon

Ever since I was 12 or 13, I've loved anchors. I wear my super cheap anchor earrings from eBay all the time (and am actually a bit sad that they've begun to become discoloured) and when I was first starting to figure out my style, coincidentally around 12 and 13, I had a white dress with a small navy anchor print on it which was my favourite. I also loved cherries, skulls, and other such prints that were popular during the mid-noughties. Actually, I still love cherry print. I suppose some things never change.

Kissed the boys and made them cry

Top: Sirens | Skirt: Thrift Shop | Tights: Hue | Heels: Steve Madden | Nail Polish: Teenage Dream/OPI

I realised after I put this outfit together that everything in it, aside from the heels, was bought in 2010. I've been thinking maybe I did it subconsciously as I've been feeling a bit nostalgic for that year lately. Sometimes I wish I were 16 again and didn't have to make proper decisions about my life and future and could just coast along in school for a bit longer. On the other hand, I'd never want to be 16 again.

Early Spring

The first of the spring flowers have begun to bloom in the past couple of weeks, a few snow drops here and crocuses there. It looks like there are going to loads of daffodils this year, though none have come out quite yet. It's been rainy but temperate the past few days, I was actually able to wear my jacket without doing it up yesterday -- spring is coming!

Lover to Lover

Scarf: Thrift Shop | Body: Leg Avenue | Trousers: Sirens | Heels: Aldo | Nail Polish: Last Friday Night by OPI

Last weekend when I decided I wanted to wear this brightly coloured scarf in my hair I came to the realisation I have practically nothing that it goes with nicely. Naturally, I decided to go with an all black outfit. The overall look was inspired by two of my biggest fashion influences with my hair inspired by Amy and my outfit inspired by Audrey.
