Polyvore

Every once and a while I rediscover my Polyvore account. I got a bit carried away yesterday putting together outfits

1

I love the style of these heels, the only thing I dislike about this pair is the finish.

I do like patent heels, but I prefer non-shiny finishes since patent, to me, is quite dressy.

2

Out of all the outfits, this one is really my style.

High waist pants, covered platform heels, long earrings, and red polish are some of my staples!

3

I just love the delicate, open back shirt that I based this outfit off. It's a gorgeous colour and the fabric looks lovely.
The lipstick I included in this one is a new favourite of mine, Revlons' classic Fire & Ice.

4

Firstly, these shoes are amazing -- and such a good price! If only Charlotte Russe didn't charge so much duty on orders from Canada.

I also love, love, love the little ring.

5

This is the most spring-like of all the outfits, I think. I have a skirt somewhat similar to this one, although it's a tad shorter and lighter in colour. I think the earrings are amazing, I love the spiked back.

Also, I included one of my fave nail polishes -- For Audrey by China Glaze. It's a perfect colour for spring.

6

The final one is a really simple, classic style. I love the berry/wine coloured jeans, and long, black earrings.

Dead Flowers

This is an outfit I wore a few days ago. I think this is sort of my first, proper summer outfit of the year (although summer isn't quite here yet). We had a few lovely, warm days recently, though and I took full advantage of them -- by bringing out all my shorts that I haven't worn for ages. The ones I wore in this outfit are relatively new, I bought them at a thrift shop, and they originally were full length jeans, but I made them into shorts! They're a touch too big in the legs, but I wasn't able to take them in properly any more than I did.

With the shorts, I'm wearing my leopard print cardigan from Sirens (another piece I've had for ages!), and an old pair of heels from Le Chateau. The necklace, which is quite difficult to see in the photos (sorry!), is this one from Claire's. It's from last year round Hallowe'en time.

May Update

Good afternoon, lovelies! I think, since I haven't done one in a while, now would be a good time for a little update post. My posts lately have been a bit sporadic because I've been busy, but I'm going to try and post more regularly soon.

It's taken me quite a while to decide what to do, but I think I'm finally settling on a plan for my future. I'm not going say a tonne about it right now, as I still could change my mind, but I will tell you all a bit about the first part of the plan. I'm getting things sorted out to take a medical transcription training course, and I do have bigger plans, but those are the ones I'm keeping to myself for now! It's an online course and takes between 9 and 12 months to complete, depending on how quickly you can work through it. I'm already quite familiar with online courses, so I'll be able to manage that, I'm sure. The actual content of the course, on the other hand, no so familiar! That said, I'm fairly good at picking up on things quickly, so hopefully it goes well.

I mentioned a while ago that I was taking a course in German, it's an introductory course that I am nearly done with. It's gone quite well, and I'd planned to, perhaps, take the two courses that follow it. It's an online course, and I've been taking it through the school I took my secondary school courses through, and they've recently changed their policies for graduates due to budget cuts at the ministry. Graduates had previously been eligible for ministry funding to take any of their courses, and are now not (aside from a few basic courses such as English, Mathematics, etc) and each course costs quite a bit. Think 500% increase. So, while I'd like to learn a bit more German and continue to work on it, I think I'll be looking at other options. I've been teaching myself a bit of basic French, also. I find it a bit easier for me to understand, and I think it'd come in more handy in my life as I live in a country where it's one our official languages.

I haven't got a great deal planned for summer, other than starting my course (since it's online it can be started at anytime) and just taking it as it comes. I hope to make it a bit more eventful than last year, though!

So, with the more boring and technical part of this update out of the way, I'll just ramble off a few other things! I'm going to renew my driver's licence in the next month or two. I originally got it when I was sixteen, but it expired last winter and I haven't been driving so I haven't renewed it. I'd like to have a current piece of proper ID again, and well, if I'm going to practise my driving, I'll need it.

I'd like to start making videos more often, but I'll need to practise it a bit first. I'm terribly awkward on film, probably because I still feel so strange sat alone talking to a video camera! Hopefully I can get past that, haha.

And... I think that's about it for now. Hope you're all having a nice evening and I'll leave you with a couple of photos from this past Sunday. I think it was the warmest day we've had yet this year, it genuinely felt like summer!

Pearls and Lace

This is just going to be a little outfit post of what I wore on Tuesday. I've had these photos in my drafts and hadn't gotten round to posting them till now. Annoyingly, for me, only a couple of the photos worked out from that day -- which are the two I'm posting, and even them I don't particularly love. Hopefully taking photos goes better the next time I do it!

I paired a pretty, little lace shirt with my high waist jeans and Aldo heels.

The shirt and jeans are both from thrift shops, as is the little faux pearl necklace. The earrings are from Ardene.

Marilyn Makeup

This is another makeup look I've done recently, it's based off this tutorial, which was based off Marilyn Monroe's signature look. I decided to forgo the little beauty spot that Marilyn had on her cheek, since this was for everyday wear. But I did draw a small one on near my eye where I had a blemish that was difficult to cover properly.

The products I used were, more or less, the same ones I used for the Dietrich look, but I thought I would include them in this post anyways!

I'd been wanting to try this Marlene Dietrich tutorial for ages, and yesterday I finally did!

REVIEW: False Eyelashes #168

I know I've just done a review on false eyelashes, but when I ordered the pair I reviewed in this post, I had ordered a bulk set from another shop, called gobby220. I'd seen these packets of 10 pairs of lashes tonnes of times and had been wanting to try a packet for ages. I bought the #168 lashes, but they had several other styles to choose from, all priced at $1.60 (free postage to several countries).

These lashes are more natural than the pair I reviewed last, that said, the last pair were very unnatural looking. The spine on these lashes is more flexible than the other pair, the flexibility of these ones reminded me somewhat of Ardell lashes. I found that they stayed in place well all throughout the day, and were not heavy on my eyelids at all!

The seller was very pleasant to deal with, and sent the lashes very quickly after I purchased them. It isn't stated whether the lashes are synthetic or real hair, but I would assume they are decent quality synthetics as real hair lashes typically cost a bit more.

Like the other lashes in my last review, I think they were definitely worth what I paid, especially considering you get 10 pairs and they can be reused. I'd absolutely consider buying another set from this shop at some point.

Electra Heart

This is such a fab album. The first couple of times I listened to it I wasn't sure if I liked it that much, but it's definitely, really grown on me.

I loved Marina's first album, The Family Jewels, it's one of my favourite albums to this day. I Am Not A Robot, Obsessions, Shampain, and Oh No! are some of absolute favourite songs. And don't even get me started about her videos -- the videos for Hollywood, Shampain, Fear and Loathing, Radioactive, and Primadonna are some of my all time faves.

My favourite songs off Electra Heart are Lonely Hearts Club, Sex Yeah, Buy the Stars, and Hypocrates. But there's really not one that I dislike, I think they all fit together really perfectly. I listen to all sorts of music, including some fluffy, fun pop music (think The Saturdays, Cheryl Cole, etc), but what I love about Marina's style of pop music is that I feel her lyrics have deeper meaning than a lot of other pop.

Before I go, I'll leave you with the video for one of her older tunes, Hollywood.

REVIEW: False Eyelashes

Before I begin my review, I would like to state I am not being paid or receiving anything from the shop in return for this review (the same applies to all other past reviews). I do these reviews because I enjoy doing them.

I ordered this pair of incredibly cheap false eyelashes off a shop called beauty288shop a couple of weeks ago, recently received them in the mail, and wore them for the first time today. They cost $1.61, and this particular shop provides free shipping to several countries.

They are synthetic lashes, and the quality of most synthetic lashes doesn't quite match the quality of lashes made of real hair. These lashes are decent quality synthetics, though. That said, I have worn both types and don't have a particular preference. My only complaints about them is that the spine is a little inflexible (but not terribly so), and the lashes themselves are somewhat stiff.

These lashes are quite long -- they are definitely not natural looking. After wearing them today (and feeling like I looked a bit like a drag queen, and not in a good way!), I think I will be reserving these lashes strictly for going out or Hallowe'en (or any costume wearing occasion). They'd be excellent for a dramatic makeup look of some sort.

The shop I bought them from has several other styles of false lashes. I think I may try another set of their lashes at some point, as I quite like this pair and find they were very much worth the price I paid. The seller was very prompt to respond to my purchase, they even posted it the same day as I placed my order! It took them about two weeks to arrive in Canada, but delivery time would depend on where you live.

Overall, they're decent false eyelashes, especially for the price.

If you're looking for some fun, inexpensive falsies, I'd definitely suggest giving this shop and their lashes a look!

The eyeshadow colours are by L'Oreal. The lip colour I'm wearing below is a combination of Coral Queen and Pink Blush by Rimmel.

The little gold tone anchor earrings are from this shop on eBay, and the blouse is second hand.

Faux Gold

I bought these from a UK based shop on eBay, and I absolutely love them! They're not the most amazing quality, but they weigh next to nothing (so much better than heavy earrings) and are nearly three inches in diameter.

I don't wear much jewellery, but I'm such a sucker for earrings.
