SNOW!

It's snowed a tonne over the last week, snow is so rare in Victoria, let alone in November. But, I love it anyway, as long as I don't need to be out in it! Haha.

Here are a few pictures I took a few days ago, snow is such a novelty in Victoria that whenever it snows here, one of my first thought is "Oh, my god, I need to get out there and take some pictures!", and then run outside and freeze myself a little.

Though, I should probably learn how to dress for sub-zero temperatures and snow so I can curb the whole freeing my arse off thing, that would be quite good.

GET OUT OF MY HAIR

Here are a few pictures I took on Tuesday night.
It's snowed more today, and it looked so pretty that I went out and took some photos, I'll post a few soon!

MARILYN

Here's a picture of my latest project I mentioned that I need lace trim for. I made it out of an old shirt I'd bought at a thrift shop a year or so ago.

I cut the arms off, stitched it up, stuffed it, finished stitching it, sewed on the lace trim, and voila!

I also hemmed a new blue skirt mum picked up for me at a thrift shop a little while ago, and am currently working on another skirt, and have some other projects planned that I haven't started yet!

Goodnight xo

I KNOW I'M STRONG

I took these a couple of days ago. I'm wearing the beige lace shirt I ordered from, Forever 21 and my old high waist shorts.

It's been so cold here the past week, it snowed on Saturday, and again yesterday. I just love the snow, as long as I don't have to be out in it, haha. I took a few pictures on the weekend, I'll post them soon!

WAITING AROUND ALL OVER TOWN

Here are a few photos from a few days ago, haha.

I've been lazy and bad with updating my blog the past few days, but I have some more photos to post after these ones. I'll post them when photoshop stops acting up and lets me resize them!

Today I stayed home allllll day, didn't get dressed until noon, finished up some coursework for the week, started a new little project (I forgot to take a before picture, though, boo!), and planned out my weekend a bit.

Tomorrow morning I'm going out to Fabricland to buy some lace trim for my project, and then head down to Chinatown with mum to do a little Christmas shopping. I'm also thinking of popping into a shop that I've been thinking of applying for a job at, and I need to go the grocery store, too. And that's all fine and dandy, as long as I don't get waylaid by actual snow, in Victoria, in November. I doubt it, but then who knows. We'll see, I 'spose.

As for tonight, right now I'm sitting at my desk typing up this post, while half listening to/watching the news on my clunky, old TV and keeping an eye out for any snow out my window. It's cosy, haha, especially with our pretty Christmas lights turned on just outside my bedroom window.

CITY LIGHTS LAY OUT BEFORE US

Here are the pictures I told you I'd post of the few things I bought from Forever 21's online store. I'd never been able to decide what to spend an old pre-paid Visa I'd been given last Christmas on, but I finally did!

I bought these two lace shirts; I love lace and since it's in fashion this year it's so easy to find some nice lacy things. It's too bad these two photos aren't very nice, but that's what you get for rushing while you're trying to do something, isn't it?

And I also bought this dress, which I definetly didn't need, but love a ridiculous amount. As well as these tights that have a seam up the back (you can see the seam the last photo). They seem really delicate though, like they might get laddered easily, but they'll be nice anyways!

UNVARNISHED

Here's a photo from Saturday morning before I did my makeup!

Today was pretty uneventful. I got my social insurance number forms sorted and ready to mail off to the place that processes them, that happens to be all the way across the country, haha.

It rained all day, basically, and now it's getting windy. There's a wind warning posted for Victoria for tonight, and I just heard on the news that it's supposed to be a stormy night. I'm down, as long as it doesn't keep me up, haha.

NEW KID IN TOWN

I thought I'd post a little update post since I haven't done one for a while.

I'm in my last year of Secondary school this year, and it's going well. I got an A on my last English, Family Studies, and Tourism assignments, and I even passed with a C on my last maths assignment! I know, a C isn't fantastic, but I'm so happy to just be passing them, as I have a bad track record with maths.

I ordered a few things from Forever 21 last week and they arrived (rather speedily) on Friday, I took a few pictures of them that I'll post soon. I had one of those pre-paid Visa cards that I was given last Christmas that I'd never been able to figure what to buy with it, so I finally used it and bought a couple of things!

I have absoulutly nothing planned to do this week, aside from getting up tomorrow, getting dressed while listening to the radio, and doing my Tourism coursework. But I kind of love those kind of times, when you just wing it.

I have a bunch of things I want to do, though. Like getting out and going for a nice walk downtown or at the beach on one of those rare sunny days we're supposed to be getting this week. I want to go shopping, too, because I have a bit of spare spending money, and I think we all know I usually can make a little bit go a long way, haha. I also need to practice driving a bit, I haven't driven since my accident in February, I want to start again, though, and I'm planning on doing that this month sometime.

Other than that, I've been listening to The Eagles a lot lately, as well as Cheryl Cole. I have really all-over-the-place taste in music, as some of you already know, haha.

Here are a couple of pictures from Friday night, my hair's been behaving the last few days, which is quite nice, I must say!

Also, I think that if you have any questions for me, you should ask me on my Formspring!

TUTORIAL: Glittered Heels

What You Will Need:

• Your chosen pair of shoes
• Newspaper
• Tacky Glue (or some similar glue)
• Two paintbrushes (one small, and one medium sized)
• Loose glitter
• Mod Podge

Step #1

I did this project sitting on the floor, and working over newspaper in an attempt to not get so much glitter on the floor; it wasn't entirely successful, but it certainly helped in not making such a mess. I used a pair of 3-year-old pink heels I bought at Zellers for my project, as they didn't matter much if it didn't go as planned, but it did, so happy days, haha.

Take your medium sized paintbrush and paint on a layer of tacky glue, not too thick though, or else it will take a while to dry. You can paint the entire shoe in a coat of glue, or paint a bit on, glitter it, and repeat until the entire shoe is glittered. I did the latter, painting a patch of the shoe with glue, sprinkling glitter over it, and repeating. When doing this is gently press the glitter into the layer of glue while it's wet to help it stick better.

Before:

After the first glittering:

Step #2

Add a little more glue with the medium OR small brush, and then glitter. Do this to any spots on the shoe where the original colour is showing so the shoe can be completely covered in glitter. I did this 2 or 3 times, I never glittered the entire shoe again, just the spots that weren't completely covered. Also, if any of the edges around where your foot goes into the shoe are bare, make sure to glitter them, as well.

Step #3

Paint the entire shoe, carefully, with Mod Podge using the larger brush. Mod Podge, if you haven't heard of it, is a sealer. It has a fairly thin consistency, no strong scent, and is safe to use indoors. I wasn't sure if it would work on these, but it ended working very well. You want to put on a fairly thin layer, but make sure all the glitter is covered and looks about as mine do in the photos below. And don't worry, it goes on white, but dries clear, and I found it took about about 4-5 hours to dry completely on my shoes.

The final coat of glitter (left), and right after a coat of Mod Podge sealer (right).

Both shoes coated in Mod Podge:

I only needed one coat of sealer on my shoes, but it could depend on the glitter and how much sealer you apply, but one coat should do the trick in most cases. I almost forgot to mention why the sealer is important, but it's important because it seals the glitter, and helps prevent too much from falling off the shoes, though a little bit still probably will.

Once the sealer has dried, the shoes should be ready to wear! But I wouldn't advise wearing them anytime when they might get very wet (ie. stepping in puddles, pouring rain, etc).

Voila!

Good luck!

GLITTER HEELS

I finally finished my little project I mentioned in a recent post, here's a picture!

I'm actually so pleased with how they turned out, and I'm going to post a tutorial on how I made them shortly, for anyone interested!

REMEMBRANCE

I mentioned in one of my recent posts that I went to Victoria's Remembrance Day ceremony with mum on Thursday. They aren't great, but here are few pictures I took while we were there!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This wasn't really even half of the crowd, there were thousands of people in attendance this year according to the news.

This is Victoria's cenotaph; I think I took this about half way through the wreath laying.

Mum had the camera for a bit, and kind of took me by surprise, hence my sort of "er what? oh smile, okay yeah" expression, but it wasn't an insincere smile, it just looks like one, haha. And it was so cold that day!

And some of the wreaths, there were so many.

I think that was the first Remembrance ceremony I'd ever been to, but definetly worth going, I'll probably go again next year.

Lest we forget.

SHOPPING ♥

I went shopping a few days ago, I hadn't been forever and naturally, I didn't find any clothes I really liked, but shoes on the other hand...

I bought these boots for $25 from Ardene, they're so comfy!

And these two bracelets and this adorable little owl ring, from Ardene as well, on one of their 3-for-$10 sales.

Finally, I found these wedges on sale for about $50 at Aldo. I completely love them and they're really comfortable, too. I wore them yesterday to the Remembrance ceremony downtown and they didn't hurt my feet one bit!
